Tanzplan Potsdam: Artists in Residence: Arbeitswochen Choreografie #2 - Working Together

Just as it did last year, the fabrik will also hold the Arbeitswochen Choreografie (Choreography Workweeks) this summer. It is a platform for young choreographers, who will be able to work for two weeks in the Potsdam Studios. The focus in 06 was on solo works, but in 07 the joint starting point will be the topic of „Working Together“. ‘Collaboration’ has become a buzzword in the area of dance in recent years. But how can collaboration be (variously) implemented in the choreographic working process? Which methods of working meet which needs, and how does a specific method of working influence the choreographic product? The fabrik has invited five groups from Berlin, London, Stockholm and Zagreb to discuss and try out collaborative forms of work in collective workshops (with Antonia Baehr and Litó Walkey among others) both as part of an exchange with international mentors, and of course in work on individual projects.
The groups will present the results of their work in an Open Studio on August 4th at 6 pm.

The second school project, part of the expanded Children’s and Young People’s Program of the Bavarian State Ballet, takes place as part of “studies” from Access to Dance. Tanzplan München. Around 110 students from the 8th form of the St. Anna Gymnasium and a class from the Berufsschule zur Berufsvorbereitung am Bogenhauser Kirchplatz (Bogenhauser Kirchplatz Vocational Training School) will work on developing their own choreography throughout the entire month of July under the direction of Berlin choreographer Nadja Raszewski and dancers and educators from the Bavarian State Ballet and from the Dance and School e.V.
The project began in summer 2006 and it was the idea of the Director of the St. Anna Gymnasium, Dr. Ingrid Neuner, to hold it for the first time together with the Bavarian State Ballet in their rehearsal rooms. They were an exciting and inspiring four weeks of non-competitive teamwork, concentration and passion, focused on an artistic product, which was then proudly presented to the public.

A Body is as a Body isn’t (Virtual bodies)/Potsdam

Virtuality describes a room and a time of pure potential. In moments of virtuality bodies emerge from predetermined patterns and pictures – and enter into being, in the zone between the real and the imagined. The experimental symposium “A BODY IS AS A BODY ISN’T” gathers artistic and theoretical suggestions which try to make virtual reality recognizable and something that can be experienced. A simultaneousness of text, image, experience, movement, bodies, exhibition and observation will be set up in a large-scale installation supporting a three-dimensional network. Performances, films, videos, talks, installations. Programme during one night and one day with an overnight stay in the Black-Box. With Antonia Baehr, Alessio Bonaccorsi, Lisa Buck and Trilby Cox, Stephan Geene, Frédéric Gies, Stefan Pente, Ines Schaber, Tim Stüttgen, Rut Waldeyer and Gisa Schraml, William Wheeler, Laurie Young, and others.
