Choreographers’ residency 2010 / Hamburg

As part of the K3 residency programme | Tanzplan Hamburg Margret Bjarnadottir (Iceland), Lea Martini (Amsterdam / Berlin) and Sebastian Matthias (Berlin) have been granted an eight-month residency at K3 for 2010. Paulina Pomana (Hamburg), graduate of the Performance Studies programme at the University of Hamburg, has also been awarded an additional four-month funded residency and will present a project during the DanceKiosk Festival in July 2010.

The work premieres in June 2010 in Lille/F.

Take-off Youngsters in the NRW Easter holidays / Düsseldorf

The Junge Ensemble at the tanzhaus nrw (JET) and 30 young people, working under the direction of Guido Markowitz, show their new works. JET presents extracts from the piece “Finale” by Henri Oguike. The new piece, “Kraftwerk”, was developed by 30 youngsters under the direction of Guido Markowitz and Damian Gmür.

Tanzplan Deutschland has provided a total of € 900,000 to fund co-productions through the National Performance Network (NPN) from 2005 to 2009. Due to the great success of this project, the Federal Cultural Foundation has decided to extend funding for another year, providing another € 200,000 for 2010.

13 pupils from the final year class at the Viktoriaschule Darmstadt have developed a dance theatre piece together with their teachers Irene Schmidtmer and Sophie Trautmann, supported by choreographer Wiebke Dröge. “Hochgradig verwirrt” is a piece about goals, future prospects, entanglements and the quirks of youthful energy: “hochgradig verwirrt” (greatly confused).

Herderboys: “Vertrauen” (trust). A dancer, a dramaturge and a teacher have been working at the IGS Herder in Frankfurt with the group that is most difficult to attract to dance: boys. Since February, they have been discussing, improvising and dancing on the topics of trust, self-confidence, confidence, mistrust and the breach of trust in weekly meetings. LIME - Labor für choreografische Praxis und Theorie (Laboratory for choreographic practice and theory) / Bremen

In LIME, steptext offers dance project choreographers, dance theoreticians and Choreography and Performance Studies students a platform to exchange views and ideas on their own aesthetic practice and dramaturgic strategies in contemporary dance. Three high-profile director-duos open up spaces for interdisciplinary working processes in five-day laboratories, during which they provide insights into their specific artistic ways of working, methods and experiences. The laboratories are rounded off with a programme of events.

As part of Tanzplan Dresden‘s production funding programme, “Choreografen auf dem Sprung” (choreographers ready for action), Juraj Korec (Slovakia) and Leandro Kees (Argentina/Essen) each develop a production for Dresden’s semper kleine szene, in which the premieres of their new productions „h a b i t a t“ and “ANTROMORFIA” are also to be staged.

Händeln | Sport | Schwimmen. In June K3 presents a compilation of various K3-Jugendklub productions: a further development of the choreography “Händeln”, which Friederike Lampert developed with young people; a repeat performance of the production “Sport”, which Thomas Marek and Karolin Schäfer developed with youngsters at the beginning of the year, and the choreography “Schwimmen”, which Friederike Lampert developed and executed for the Deutsche Mastersmeisterschaften im Schwimmen (German Masters swimming competition).

Cooperation / Munich

Working in cooperation with the Munich Chamber Orchestra under the direction of its conductor Alexander Liebreich, artists Christa Coogan and Andrea Marton developed a choreography set to music by John Adams with pupils of various ages from the Nymphenburger Gymnasium and several Munich primary schools.

8th Norddeutsches Tanztreffen / Bremen

Six choreographies from urban companies from Braunschweig, Hanover, Osnabrück, Greifswald/Stralsund/Putbus, Kiel, Bremerhaven and Bremen give guest performances in Hanover. Helge Letonja (steptext dance project), Zufit Simon (artblau Tanzwerkstatt), Felix Landerer (COMMEDIA FUTURA), Wesley D’Alessandro, Hans Fredewß (Compagnie Fredeweß) and Gilles Welinski, all representatives of the independent dance scene, have been invited to participate. The area of children’s and youth dance is also represented with one performance by steptext young artists from Bremen, one by the Ballet, and one by the Staatsoper Hanover’s youth club.
