Project description1242
On February 6, 2007, at their third working meeting initiated by Tanzplan Deutschland, the representatives of the state institutions for dance education founded a national consortium to represent their interests: under the name “Dance Education Conference” they participate in the current discussions about training and education with a united voice.

The goal of this initiative is to strengthen professional dance training in Germany. To achieve this, the interests must be represented in national panels, the cooperation between the various institutions needs to be intensified, and at the same time the profiles of the training institutions need to be sharpened and the networking with international partners has to be increased.

The first step made by the "Dance Education Conference" was a Biennale Dance Education in spring 2008 in Berlin, wich was followed by the 2nd Biennale in Essen in March 2010. It was conceived as a platform to present and promote projects and works by students – comparable to the Theatertreffen of the acting schools. A workshop programme and a conference were planned, as well as an additional qualifying training programme for students and teachers alike.

Spokespersons of "Dance Education Conference": Prof. Jason Beechey (First Spokesman) - Palucca Schule - Hochschule für Tanz, Prof. Dieter Heitkamp - Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, Prof. Christine Neumeyer - Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim / Akademie des Tanzes, Prof. Vera Sander - Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.1243
