The last meeting of the spokesmen of the Dance Education Conference took place in February 2011.
Project description
In order to get a general idea of the situation in Germany, Ingo Diehl visited all institutions – regardless of their techniques – which hold an academic status. Discussions were held with professors and instructors of the different schools concerning questions of dance education, and classes: Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz / Pilotprojekt Tanzplan Berlin, Palucca Schule Dresden - Hochschule für Tanz /Dresden, Folkwang Hochschule, Fachbereich 3 /Essen, Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Künste /Frankfurt, Hochschule für Musik, Abteilung Tanz /Köln, Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Künste, Akademie des Tanzes /Mannheim, Ballett Akademie München Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung /München.
With the restructuring of the dance schools from diploma / certificates to BA / MA degrees in mind, the need for action in this context quickly led to the first discussion under the headline: „Bachelor and Master Degrees as a an Opportunity for Dance.“
The first meeting of the national dance schools took place before the Tanzkongress in Berlin on 19th April 2006. The next meeting took place November 24th to 26th, 2006. In addition to further discussions on the restructuring of the dance schools to BA / MA and the evaluation of projects from the dance schools, a teachers workshop in „classical dance“ was offered during the meeting.
On February 6, 2007, at their third working meeting initiated by Tanzplan Deutschland, the representatives of the state institutions for dance education founded a national consortium to represent their interests: the “Dance Education Conference”.
The first step planned by this consortium was the Dance Education Biennale in 2008 in Berlin, followed by the 2nd Biennale in March 2010 in Essen.
Tanzplan Deutschland supports also other initiatives in the field of education, such as the development of dance video libraries for institutions, the teaching of theory as part of a practical training programme, ongoing opportunities for further training and education for lecturers and professors, and the co-financing of the new multi-media teaching DVD-ROM by William Forsythe.
