Prof. Dr. Claudia Jeschke, Munich/Salzburg
Studied Theatre Studies and German in Munich, PhD in 1979. From 1980 to 1990 Jeschke was employed at the Institut für Theaterwissenschaft at the University in Munich. In 1994 she became a professor at the Institut für Theaterwissenschaft in Leipzig, where she completed her Habilitation. In 2000, Jeschke became a professor for dance at the Hochschule für Musik in Köln. Since 2004 she has held the Chair for Dance at the University of Salzburg. She has been a guest professor at both European and American universities. Jeschke is the author of many publications in which she uses her knowledge as a trained dancer to examine the history of dance through the analysis of movement and practice-oriented perspectives. She has also documented the connection among history, theory, and practice in many reconstructions of dance phenomena of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
