September 21 and 22
First conference of all project partners of the Tanzplan-vor-Ort cities

Under the motto Networking and Communication, for the first time more than forty colleagues met in PACT Zollverein in Essen for a two-day conference. The mutual presentation of the nine projects clarified the various working fields of the five-year project: professional education, residency programmes, project work, evaluation, education and tour programmes for the public, and the inclusion of the independent scene. On the second day, working groups were formed to define new tasks (for example in the area of public relations). In the final discussion, it was unanimously agreed to organise a loose series of further meetings in other Tanzplan cities.
The Berlin Tanzplan office, which sees itself as a project, will take advantage of the positive resonance to Tanzplan to find new sources of funding, and new publics, and to champion dance on the federal level, and to broaden the reach of individual projects. In all of this, the Tanzplan team is well aware of the problems it faces, as an umbrella organisation, in doing justice to the flexible structures of dance.
